Drop Camp Hunting

This camp is for experienced hunters who can safely find game, field dress harvests, navigate the forest and cook for themselves.

We will pack your personal gear and groceries into a preset camp, and your harvested meat will be packed out to SLO base camps. Each drop camp will be supplied with a two-way radio for communication with base camps - for your safety and to let packers know that you have meat to be packed out.

Upon arrival at SLO you will be briefed on horse safety, the hunting area, SLO policy and the importance of preserving our natural resources and primitive wilderness for future generations. Upon arrival at the drop camp, hunters will again be briefed by the guides on the hunting area, safety, and the practice of low impact camping.

Contents of Drop Camps

• 16X 20 canvas wall tent
• Floor and rain fly
• Cots with foam pads
• Two burner propane cooking stove and 30 pound LP tank
• Cylinder wood stove for heat
• Table and chairs
• Pots, pans, and cooking utensils
• Hand saw and axe for working up wood
• Two Coleman lanterns, fuel, and extra mantles
• 5 gallon buckets for collecting water
• Motorola radio for communication with SLO
• Map of hunting area
